Washer Necklace: a simple tutorial

For Joelys 11th birthday party last week, we made washer necklaces. They were fast easy and the girls loved them.

To make your own, gather a few supplies:
  • A washer ( I got mine from Home Depot)
  • Mod Podge
  • Decorative paper
  • glitter
The process was too simple:

  • Choose the paper each girl wanted and cut to fit the washer (I had circle punches that matched our sizes)
  • Add a thin layer of Mod Podge, apply decorative paper
  • Allow to dry
  • Then add another layer of Mod Podge to the top and lightly sprinkle some glitter over the top
  • Allow to dry again. You are done!
This same project we are going to do at girls camp this year too!

Love,

Yo Ho Ho

Okay, so here is the conversation I had the other night....

Joel "you do way to much, I feel like there is always something we are preparing for; some party, some event....blah blah blah" I hear this conversation often, and it's 100% true, I usually do have more going on then I have time for. But then the other night I had mentioned that someone had featured my blog, and I really don't have anyone to be excited with, so I try to spread my joy with Joel, he then looks at the blog and notices I haven't posted anything in about a week (maybe more) and he says "You know if you don't keep doing things and posting them, no one will want to read your blog."....Hmmm, I decided I just cant win :-)

Joel, I sure do love you! I guess since no matter what I am sure I will always have more projects then I have time for, I will at least try to be a little better about keeping them posted.

As for right now I am trying to get ready for a big pirate party for our primary. Joel helped me make (Okay he made, I just cut felt) sling shots for each kids, and pea shooters. I also made some easy peasy pirate hooks. I'll take pictures of the big party tonight, it's hopefully going to be a blast!

tissue paper pom pom's

We are going to try and make these tissue paper pom poms, I finally found a site that had instructions. Apparently Martha Stewart once showed how to make these and has a link, so every site I would check just posted a link to her site, unfortunatly the link has been removed form Marthas site, so I had to do some major web searching to find someone who actually did her own step by step instructions. Here is her site, if you want to make some.

Okay here are some pictures from my attempt at tissue paper Pom Pom's. I didn't know how much tissue it would take to make one of them, so I will need to go and buy some more for Joely's room, but I think they turned out cute. If you do decide to make them they are time consuming, about 30-45 minutes for one.

Here's the site if you want step by step instructions.
